I thought I read that if BT was already installed I could make a switch on my own and I don't need to wait for an engineer.
Is this not true?

What type of BT broadband do you have currently? Is it Full Fibre or just Fibre?
You could always call the broadband team.

Thanks Gav,
That number says it's only for complaints or will it still work? Trying to talk to a human now tv rep seems impossible!

Don't be put off by the "complaints" part of the link. Annoyingly it seems to be the only quick way you can find the free from number for the broadband team.

Just wondering, what was the answer?

So it's likely that the previous tenant cancelled their BT broadband so the line went dead.
This means that OpenReach need to send out a man to check and get it reactivated. Until they do that there is nothing that Now TV or any providers who rely on Open Reach can do.
Hopefully he says someone at OpenReach will check and see it can be done remotely and before the activation date. If that happens it can be switched immediately, if not they'll need to wait.
