FRAUD ALERT

Hello
Now TV recently sent me an email to tell my subscription had been activated.

This is a complete scam. I used Now TV about 2 years to watch some golf and have never used them since, so to receive an email this week to say my subscription has been activated at best is a bad mistake at worst a fraudulent tactic to gain access to my account.

Has this happened to anyone else.?

@SCAM_ALERT

So you need to do 2 things instantly.

1. Change your password and request ALL devices to be removed.

2. Set up a payment PIN so no-one can start a membership without your say so.

Then go onto live chat and speak with staff about a refund. Make sure you’re signed in and click the ‘How to get in touch’ dropdown.

FYI that I do not work for NOW, just a NOW customer trying to help

To which the answer is yes, it happens to a number of people who haven’t set a Payment PIN, and who disposed of a device with an open Now Account on it, without first Factory Resetting the device.

There are other ways it can happen, not including Now spontaneously restarting dormant accounts, something they don’t do, and you perhaps should be pleased they notifies you this had happened, rather than you only finding it out when you checked your bank account. Which not everybody does every month, so it’s sometimes a while before these things come to light.

But disposing of ‘live’ devices - does that ring any bells?

It might be worth looking at My Devices in My Account, see what’s been used when - might tell you something.

But only after proceeding as @gavs82008 describes in his post here.

Set a Payment PIN on your account so that no-one but you can buy memberships on it. Check your bank accounts monthly for any other unexpected payments to Now. That way you can at least nip them in the bud, while you and Now figure out whose fault they are.
