Broadband contract cancelled twice but still being charged

@ I've spoken to two different operators and been told on both occasions my account will be cancelled as requested, once in mid August and once in mid September. But the account is still active and money still being charged to my credit card. I'm going round in circles but getting nowhere. I don't even own the property any more! How do I stop payments being taken to which Now are not entitled?

@Essenen

Not much can be done an here if anything. All we can say is keep calling and pestering until you're happy.

FYI that I do not work for NOW, just a NOW customer trying to help

A little disheartening, but thank you!

If @gavs82008‘s good suggestion gains no more traction than your earlier efforts, then ask your bank to stop paying the CPA (Continuous Payment Authority) by which Now are taking this money.

Don't let them tell you they can’t; they can, and they must; and if any more money goes out after you have issued the instruction to them, then the bank, not you, are liable for it.

It would be a good idea to send an email to customerservices@ NowTV.com (lose the space) explaining what you have done and why, so they know they shouldn’t start suing you for the money.

Set a Payment PIN on your account so that no-one but you can buy memberships on it. Check your bank accounts monthly for any other unexpected payments to Now. That way you can at least nip them in the bud, while you and Now figure out whose fault they are.

Thank you for this. They payments are being charged to a credit card and I've just started the somewhat long-winded process to try and stop it, but they don't make it easy! Thank you also for the tip about telling customer service if I manage to achieve this, it's a very good thought.

@ UPDATE: I took @RoyB 's advice and contacted my credit card company with the evidence of my cancellation of the service and they did a re-charge. I emailed NOW to tell them what I had done but received no response. A little while after this I received an email from NOW telling me my service was suspended because I owed them money. I replied to this but got response. Another one was received 10 days later and I tried phoning again.

Very long story short I finally spoke to someone in the accounts department who acknowledged the original cancellation in August. Agreed to wipe out the amount that was showing I owed on the account and to refund a small amount covering the amount paid from mid to end of August. By that time I was quite happy to have the debt cleared never mind the refund as this whole thing has cost me so much more than what they owed me. but he insisted and this week I have received the credit to my credit card. I assume I am debt free and that my service has been cancelled. It's not showing as cancelled on the website, but so long as I never hear from NOW again, I'm happy.

Thank you everyone for the advice offered.
