Sorry for the hyperbole, but the next couple of days on NOW TV are looking pretty exciting.

“What have you got?” we hear you ask. Well, take a look at this:

Boro's Patrick Bamford.

Brentford v Middlesbrough. Saturday from 12:00

In what is becoming a recurring theme in the Championship, this weekend throws up yet another potential promotion decider. Brentford, fresh from promotion from League One now find themselves in the play-off positions and within sight of a place in next year’s Premier League. With two points separating the top five, this game has a lot riding on it. ‘Boro come into the game in great form; they are unbeaten in five Championship games and head to Brentford on the back of their stunning win at Manchester City in the FA Cup.

The finish line is getting closer, and the games are getting bigger.

Frank Lampard: Before and after.

Chelsea v Manchester City. Saturday from 16:45

Saturday Night Football returns to our screens with a ma-hu-sive match at Stamford Bridge. Many will argue that the Premier League title will not be decided in January, but a win for hosts Chelsea would see them open up an eight-point gap over City. Surely that would be a bridge too far?

Aside from the match itself, there are more sub-plots than a soap opera. Frank Lampard returns to the Bridge for the first time since he left Chelsea last summer. Another crucial Lampard late goal – he scored at the Etihad earlier this season – would be pretty dramatic. As for Chelsea, they will be without Diego Costa, who has been given a three-match ban and so won’t be able to stamp (sorry) his authority over this match.

Defending champions City need to be at their best to be only the second team to win against a Jose Mourinho side at Stamford Bridge, but if anyone can, they can. However, this is a Mourinho team we’re talking about, so expect Chelsea to start as favourites but, in these huge matches, anything can happen. You just need to worry about getting a spot on the sofa.

Alexis Sanchez: Arsenal's Bionic Mosquito.

Arsenal v Aston Villa. Southampton v Swansea. Sunday from 15:30

Ahhh, Super Sunday, how are you? We have two huge games for you on Sunday as the Champions League race and relegation battles begin to hot up.

First up, Arsenal host struggling Aston Villa. The Gunners are slowly starting to recover their form, aided by the return of several key players. That’s the last thing Villa want to hear – given that they currently look as threatening as a litter of puppies. However, if they need inspiration, they actually won at The Emirates last season. It may take a similar result to relieve the pressure on manager Paul Lambert.

Later on, Southampton will be looking to continue their amazing season with victory over Swansea. The Saints start the weekend in third place. If you read that at the start of the campaign, we wouldn’t blame you for assuming a typo. Nevertheless, amazing results and a positive style of play have seen them gain many admirers and victory on Sunday would be one step closer to the promised land of the Champions League. As for the Swans, they remain (just about) in the hunt for a European spot. A shock victory at St Mary’s would reignite those hopes.

Here comes the razzamatazz!

Seattle Seahawks v New England Patriots. Sunday from 22:00.

And then we have, for many people, the main event.

We head to Arizona as the Seahawks and Patriots face off in ‘The Biggest Show on Turf’. The Patriots reached the showpiece event after a one-sided (but controversial) win over Indianapolis Colts, while the Seahawks staged arguably the best comeback since Take That! in their match against Green Bay Packers.

So, if you have a Week Pass (and why wouldn’t you?), stay up late and take in the sights and sounds of American sport’s showpiece events. Oh, and maybe get working on an ‘ill voice’ for your boss if it goes to over-time.

See you there!
