Picture issue watching via PS3 and Samsung smart tv

Hi, 

I was watching now TV/sky cinema via PS3 on a Samsung smart tv and the picture wasn't smooth and kept jumping. Only seems to be an issue with now tv as Netflix etc is fine.

 

not sure what the issue is.

Sorry to hear this @Anonymous User, can we ask for some more information from you ?

 

Is this happening when watching live TV or on demand content ?

 

How is your PS3 connected to the Internet ? i.e WIFI or Ethernet cable ?

 

Who is your Internet provider ? Also what are your speeds when running a speedtest from speedtest.net

Hi Andy,

 

Watching live TV is fine no issues and watching movies from Netflix is also fine so it only seems to be an issue with Now TV. The PS3 is connected via an ethernet cable. I'm on the Isle of Man so internet provider is Manx Telecom and not 100% sure of the speeds but have never had any issues before.

 

I read somewhere that it might be something to do with the output frequency on the HDMI port being 60Hz rather than 50Hz which is required by Now Tv but not really sureif this is correct or what it means.

@Anonymous User Can you try the below to see if this helps or not?

 


Solution 1

Simply close the NOW TV app, and then restart it.


Solution 2

Uninstall and reinstall the app, following these quick steps:

Start by deleting the NOW TV app

  • Press the PS Button on your controller to get to your main menu, the PS3 XMB (Xross Media Bar).
  • Go to TV/Video Services and find the NOW TV App.
  • Press TRIANGLE and select Delete.


Next, erase the app data

  • Head back to the main menu, and this time select Game Data Utility (under the Game section). 
  • Find the NOW TV Data and press TRIANGLE, followed by Delete.


Lastly, re-install the app

  • Restart your PS3 and download the NOW TV app again.
